Tara Brooke

Tara Brooke is a social entrepreneur working to change the conversation about reproductive health. She is drawn to the energy manifested during major life transitions, from puberty to parenting to menopause. This fascination has grown to define her career and led her to co-found Born into This, a nonprofit organization that focuses on education about the body and reproductive rights. Born into this creates content, media and online and in-person events. In 2011 Tara co-founded DTI which thrives as an educational arm training and certifying doulas. Tara is the mother of three children and the wife of a corporate anthropologist.

Malika Hook Muhammad

Malika trained to be a doula in 2008 and spent several years working with the Philadelphia Alliance for Labor Support (PALS), providing childbirth education and support to families with limited financial resources. As The DC Doula, she supported families in need and to provide evidence-based education and resources to her community. In her other career, Malika obtained master's degrees in social work and education from Columbia University and Baruch College in New York City.

Gina Giordano

Gina Giordano is a doula and a creator. Originally from Miami, she grew up in a close family unit. As the oldest of five children, she was taught how to support and nurture at a very young age. After studying fine arts in college, she moved to New York City where she was introduced to the idea of doula work. Just after one training her passion for working in pregnancy, childbirth and beyond was ignited. In 2005 she started a business, offering birth and postpartum doula services and education to families. Through her work she learned how to offer compassionate, dignified care for ALL families during childbirth and the postpartum time, no matter their choices. She also saw a need for more doulas. Driven to serve that need she co-founded DTI with her long time friend and business partner Tara Brooke. By working as the creative director of DTI, Gina’s mission is to bring awareness to all birth and reproductive options through innovative and curated design.
